Sunday afternoon in August is probably the worst time to lose your AC. I called a few places and left voicemails. One place said they could get to me on Tuesday. But Spears answered my text within 10 minutes saying they could be there in 30-60 minutes. I cracked a beer to drink while I waited but only got to take a sip, because he rolled up to my house in another 5 minutes. Solved my problem quickly for a reasonable price and my beer was still cold when I got back to it.
really confused i called and asked how much for a seasonal system service. lady said 50$. ok so what all do they do and she said check your system. i asked so what else do they do for 50. she said. nothing just check the system. i asked do they add freon if it is low. she said no. just check the system. so just so you know. i am not paying 50 when everyone does free estimates. other place check the duct work and fix kinks and tops off. freon for their fee. i am not paying 50 just for someone coming to my house and not do anything. they have good reviews. and maybe a good service company but who pays 50 for doing nothing. but a estimate of what i need. in response to your comment. why does it say on your web site free estimates. and yes call around others do more for the annual fee. so you for 50 you give what. an estimate. my problem is charging 50 and doing nothing but estimates.
the difference between a check up and an estimate.. a check up involves working with tools to make sure your HVAC system is operating properly these tools include a drill, volt meter, freon gauges and other hand tools. an estimate involves looking but not repairing. tools include tape measure, flash light and camera and maybe a laser thermometer.. So unless your a disabled veteran or your in your 80's NO!!! company is going to add freon, clean your coil or do anything else all included in a $50 check up. and if they do say that cleaning the coil is included with a check up they're talking about spraying off your outside unit with a water hose. also they might say things like “oil bearings if needed” the catch here is there are no bearings to oil.. we do everything the other guys do on a seasonal check up but we don’t mislead customers making it sound like it includes Sooooo much work. and I'm a little confused.. free? free what? free check up? of course here at Spears AC like with most other companies give free estimates but you didn't request a free estimate you requested a "check up" and we charge $50 for this and it doesn't include preforming repairs we only reccomend any repairs if needed at the conclusion of technician's check up. it's common for a $50 check up to end up being $150 or more if reccomended repairs are done but what your emplying is if a customer knows they need a pound or two of freon they can call us and request a $50 check up and then we're supposed to also add the freon along with doing any other minor repairs and it’s all included in this $50 price? or if a person’s AC stops working they can call an AC company and request a free estimate then a tech will diagnose the problem and tell you what that problem is for free? I know what happens next.. customer says "ok thank you for the free estimate good by".. then as soon as the technician packs up his tools and drives off the customer gets on Amazon and buy the recommended part then they watch a YouTube video on how to install the part.. believe it or not it happens all the time this is why there's a difference between a free estimate and a diagnostic charge.. I've been in the HVAC field for 24 years and have never heard of a company that goes around fixing people's AC's for $50 or diagnosing AC problems for free.. If you found a company that does I doubt they're still in business. If you are a disabled veteran or 80+ years old please call us back and back we'll do what ever is needed to get your AC going for free
FANTASTIC SERVICE!!! When everyone was running around getting ready for Hurricane Laura to arrive, our renter called at 7:30 p.m. to say AC went out. Called Spears and our renter called at 8:23 p.m. to say it was fixed. Less than an hour...I repeat, less than an hour! WHAT INCREDIBLE PEACE OF MIND!!! Price was more than fair. To say we're pleased is an understatement. Thank you so much!!!

AC went out late on a Friday night. Called at 7:30 Saturday morning and he arrived within the hour. Back up and running in 30 minutes. Will use again.
